Why is so attractive for painters and photographers make portraits of people reading?
When we read our posture is natural. We don't pose because our mind pays attention to the content of the book. But depends on the book, our faces convey different meanings or feelings. Sometimes we dream, we ponder or we get bore. Sometimes we are studying. Doesn't matter, the point is we never are where the others are seeing us.
But we don't read books only. We read newspapers, magazines, letters, invitations or bills. We have to read everything written, because we have to know the information. And that information or knowledge is abstract. We cannot see or listen or feel. It gets into our minds through the eyes. That's why our physical presence is empty: cause our abstract mind try to reach the abstract information.
