Andy, the last guru

For Andy Warhol, America means obsession, fame and consumerism. So that he decided his artworks were a critique of the consume that the New Era brought.

However He was obsessed with the fame and the money, the consume of pop culture icons, and the "Beautiful People". Of course not for personal gain but for inspiration, reason why he created Studio 54, and then The Factory, his studio-apartment where he lived and worked with models and celebrities.

But before that, Andy was a sick guy from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He learnt how to draw while he was convalescent in bed at the age of 9 years.

After graduating from college in Fine Arts, he moved to New York to pursue a career as a commercial artist. He got a job with Glamour magazine in September 1949 and became one of the most successful commercial artists of the 50's.

His career as a painter started in 1961 with commercial goods, debuting in the pop art style. Focus on the era of commercial advertising.

But Andy Warhol is not just a painter or illustrator, he is the last Guru of Art. He became a celebrity not in USA only, also around the World, and change the meaning of Modern Art, when the art started a decadent period after American Expressionism.
