The Regency period started when King George III was declared unfit to rule in 1811, until Queen Victoria reached her 18th birthday in 1837. But the style, known as Neoclassical or Greek Revival, began almost 50 years before, when king George III was young and strong.
The Regency, Neoclassical, or Greek Revival is known for the use of classical elements such as columns, pediments and classical sculpture among other characteristics, but the fact is considered the minimal style in the history before The Bauhaus.
Why? The answer is simple. Neoclassicism is based on purity and order. The lines are straight and clean, exists a balance between the elements and the interiors are almost empty.
Exists some differences, of course, because 20th Century Minimal doesn't have decoration on the walls, and the tapestry is simple. But the essence is the same. Clear spaces to keep the mind clear, order and simple scheme.

The Regency never ended. In our days we have reminiscences of Neoclassical in 20th Century interiors.
