The Light of Spain

I want to talk about Joaquin Sorolla i Bastida, one of the famous painters in the history of Spain. He was born in Sagunto, Spain, but lived long time in his loved land Valencia where is buried. He is famous because of his excellent portraits of the important celebrities (the king of Spain, the aristocracy and some American wealthy people), also for his scenes of the people of Spain like Visions of Spain in the Hispanic Society. That represents every region of Spain, showing the culture of the people.




I love too the paintings of the beach. You can feel and collect the impression of the light and the warm weather of Valencia. Nothing is ugly, is happy and beautiful.
 





The portraits of his family are very important because show the love of the master for his wife and children.



And perhaps the most important artworks, after the great collection of Visions of Spain, are the portraits. Some people were only clients, but he painted also his friends.
